To celebrate the International Women’s day Centre for Women and Development in partnership with Search for Common Ground handed over an advocacy paper on “Provincial and local authorities system and women’s representation and Upgrading the local council,” to the Election Commissioner, Jaffna Human Rights Commissioner, Jaffna and the respective Chairpersons of Piradesa Sabha’s today in presence of Elected Women Leaders and CSO members. This intervention is a part of the Women in Learning and Leadership Project.

Mr  Thatparan Jekanathan, Attorney-at-Law presented an introductory talk on 'Child rights under the three decades and Dr Aaruthirumurukan, President Sivapoomi was presented a talk on 'issues faced by senior citizens,  More than 60 participants from NGOs, Piradesa Sabhas, and community workers have joined in the meeting followed by a fruitful discussion.

Centre for  Women and Development Conducting a  certificate course for three months on Children's Rights and Child Protection System through an online platform.

Centre for  Women and Development Conducting a  certificate course for three months on Children's Rights and Child Protection System through an online platform.>The course has inaugurated on 20th September 2021  by Mrs . Saroja Sivachandran, Director CWD, and Mr. Thatparan Jeganathan Attorney-at-law gave an introductory talk on the need and necessity of the course in the current situation. There were more than 50 participants have joined from nongovernment organizations,piradesa sabhas, and university students in the courses. This course would mainly target with introducing the child's rights, child protection mechanism. community support, and monitoring system including governments rules and policies.

Formal discussion and consultation with existing CBOs in and networks on transitional justice mechanisms in northern province

Under this topic two programmes have been implemented one in Jaffna and one in Puthukkudiyiruppu.

Jaffna public library it has been conducted with the participation of sixty five members from eight CBOs from Jaffna, Kilinochchi & Mullaitivu . As the resource persons Mr.Jeganathan Thatparan,Lawyer and Mr.A.Varatharajaperumal, Attorney at Law. Both resource persons have explained the DAP programme objectives, what are the challenges faced by community, what are the facts to be included in the transitional justice programme , what is the role of CBOs in transitional justice process and how these messages are to be taken to the society.

workers who are protesting over their daily wise to be given up to Rs 1000/=

Women, university students and other organization gathered together and marched along the Jaffna

bus stand area and gathered near the weerasingam hall and conducted a meeting
